Landed in London!

tower_london_beefeater.jpgI arrived in London this morning! I rode the tube from the airport to my hotel and I have to admit that I was more than a little amused by the scrolling sign that read, “This train is for cockfosters.”

And of course, I’m still in shock from the prices. $50 for a week pass on the London Underground?! I’m in desperate need of a haircut so I booked the cheapest one I could find, with the cheapest stylist in the salon. It’s still going to be my most expensive haircut ever. I’ve been in London less than a day, eaten one meal, and I’ve already spent close to $300.

I’m staying on for two weeks after this weekend’s workshop. There’s no way I can afford to stay in this city. I’ll probably spring for a ticket to Paris and just bum around Europe for a while.

    Is Cockfosters English for Beer?

  • Are you by yourself? Or will you be? I don’t think I could go to a different country for two weeks by myself.

  • Traveling by yourself can be the most eye-opening experience you can have. I’ve done it in 2002 when I traveled to Asia. It forces you to learn to become your best company. It also encourages you to get out of your comfort zone and become more social if you were originally shy. Who REALLY wants to travel for 2 weeks and not talk to anyone?

  • France is an awesome country. I love it there. I hope I can go back there some day. Sigh… I don’t why Americans seem to think French people are rude. Parisians can be kind of aloof, but not particularly rude. Everyone I met was really nice.

Don’t know what all you intend to do in Paris, but I definitely recommend the Museé D’Orsay. It’s the modern art museum, as opposed to the ancient stuff at the Museé de Louvre, although there’s great stuff there, too. Go to both if you can, but the D’Orsay if you can’t.

Hope you have lots of fun in Europe! :D

In regards to your post about more Beauty and the Geek questions…I am a cute girl and would definately sit on your bed next to you.

Have fun in London. I definately reccomend the Globe Theatre tour. I wasn’t sure it would be worth it (since the Globe doesn’t look like anything from the outside) but it definately was.

If you’re going to France rent a car and hit the countryside. It’s beautiful and usually warmer there.

    Have a great time!

What kinda person “spring” their way to Paris because they’re running out of cash in London. If it was me, I would bum at home. At my parents house. HINT HINT.
