Chi-town wedding time

I’m off to Chicago today! I’m excited – it’s my first time in Chicago and I’ll be there through New Year’s. But seriously, who puts their wedding between Christmas and New Year’s? Everyone is cutting their vacation and family time short in order to attend. And I’m willing to be there won’t be any moon bounces here, either.

Strange WordPress year bug

I had five or ten half-finished posts mysteriously appear yesterday. Apparently WordPress doesn’t pay particularly close attention to the year in a post’s date, hence the slew of posts dated Dec 26, 2008. Strange.

I guess I need to change my system of organizing my drafts by posting them with dates far in the future. In the meantime, I will leave my semi-edited ramblings up until they disappear. (Some of them have already taken themselves back down with no assistance from me. Very odd.)

Enjoy this peek into ideas that, for whatever reason, I hadn’t planned to share with the world.

My sister is engaged!

Best Christmas present ever.

Christmas Eve!

I’m spending today surrounded by friends and family. I hope you are too!

I want to start writing again

I woke up at 6:30 Wednesday morning to hear Gene Weingarten, humor writer for the Washington Post, former editor of the Style Invitational, and discoverer of Dave Barry, speak to the students of Montgomery Blair high school’s student newspaper, Silver Chips. It was an inspirational talk. Hearing Gene speak reminded me how much satisfaction I get out of writing.

I’ve turned my blog into a journal of sorts where I can jot quick notes to remind myself of the interesting things in my life. Eventually, I do want to write an autobiography, at which point I’ll have my blog to remind me of the dumb things I did when I was younger.

But after hearing Gene, I’m inspired to add a weekly entry in which I really but some thought, effort, and time into the writing. After all, what do I have now if not time?
