It’s amazing what opportunities fill your life if you’re just ready to grab them. One of the biggest reasons I left graduate school to do my own thing was the desire for freedom and flexibility in my life. Working for myself means the freedom to seize those opportunities that only come by once in a lifetime.
Two days ago, Sean N sent out an email asking if anyone was available to join him for the London workshop in March. So I signed on. After all, it’s not like I have a job or anything.
But then I got to thinking… There’s only three weeks between the London workshop and Amsterdam workshop. So instead of flying me all the way back to the US and all the way back to Europe, how about if I just stay in Europe? I’ll hit every city on our mailing list, doing introductory seminars, drumming up business for the company, and recruiting potential new instructors. My boss, thinks it’s such a great idea that he’s going to cover my expenses.
So… a three week whirlwind tour of Europe, all expenses paid, and my only responsibility is to make friends. Yeah, I guess that’s better than grad school. You can have what you desire. Just reach out and grab it.
We wrapped up last week’s trip with a visit to the Keith Ablow show. It was neat wandering around inside 30 Rockefeller Plaza, even if the bathrooms weren’t as nice as I expected. Seriously, having seen the lobby, I expected better.

Want to own a little piece of reality TV history? This is the shirt I bought on the makeover episode, and while I have fond memories of my time wearing it, it is a woman’s shirt. Unfortunately, the producers took back the sweet orange hoodie and the leather jacket, and without them I just look a little silly wearing women’s clothes. So the fish shirt is up for sale. If you want, I’ll autograph it or send you a photo or something.
While Day 1 was a little slow, Day 2 picked up with Scooter, Megan, Jennylee, and I on the WPIX morning news. Nate and Cecille headed off to TRL, and I think the girls had a radio show that afternoon. I spent the afternoon buying a new coat because the jacket I brought from California was not cutting it in the -10 degree weather. By the end of my visit, the mid twenties felt warm.
There was a brief moment when we considered watching last week’s episode in our hotel room, but we decided a cast party at McFadden’s Saloon would be a much better option.
There’s plenty of room for dancing, as long as you’re creative!

Nadia, Erin, Cecille, Megan, Jennylee, Nate, Scooter, and I all met up in New York last week for a publicity tour. We hit Regis, the morning news, the Keith Ablow show, some radio shows, and Total Request Live (TRL).
Most of us got in late, so day 1 was spent checking into the hotel and catching up over food and beer.
Erin with Megan’s new puppy, Lily. Good thing Erin’s a vegetarian! That thing is bite-sized.

Reunion! We hadn’t seen each other since the show was taped six months ago.
O RLY? Erin is cute when she laughs.
